Thursday Practice Report

We finally had a nice day after all the rain here in East Tennessee. Today's practice was a tune up for the annual Orange and White game this Saturday. Fan's Day will kick off the festivities at 1pm at Shields-Watkins Field. The game starts at 3pm at Neyland Stadium.

The winningest coach in college football was in attendance today. John Gagliardi of St. Johns University of Minnesota amassed 414 victories in his 55 years of coaching. NFL Hall of Fame offensive lineman Anthony Munoz was also on hand watching practice.

C.J. Leak and Rick Clausen took all the snaps from shotgun and under center. They looked good throwing the ball short and long. Tony Brown made a great one-handed grab while he was falling out of bounds.

The coaching staff decided to approach the Orange and White game a little different this year. They let the players pick the teams for the game Saturday.

Randy Sanders will coach the Orange team and John Chavis will coach the White team. The players flipped a coin to decide who would pick coaches first.

"The last 30 minutes we broke up for the Orange and White game," Coach Fulmer said. The players separated into their respective squads to go over plays. No player will be wearing the non-contact green jerseys in the Orange and White game Saturday. "My hope is that no one gets hurt," Fulmer said.

Coach Fulmer also mentioned that the team is not where it wants to be with the quarterback situation. "Certainly the freshmen will get a chance to compete," Fulmer said when discussing the quarterback situation. Some of the incoming freshmen will be attending the Orange and White game.
