Bluegrass safety likes UT

A lanky defensive back from the Bluegrass state lists Tennessee among his early leaders.

Lamar Alston is a 6-2, 190-pounder from Tilghman High School of Paducah, Ky. He was an Associated Press honorable mention all-state pick as a junior. Alston played some receiver last fall but college recruiters like him as a defensive back.

''I'm getting a lot of letters from some big schools,'' Alston told Michael McCammon of InsideTheVille.com. ''It feels good.''

Alston has made unofficial visits to Louisivlle and Kentucky. He lists those schools as his early leaders, along with Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and Florida.

Tennessee is looking for safety help after losing 2003 starters Gibril Wilson and Rashad Baker, plus backup Mark Jones.
