Hornbuckle arrested

A member of Pat Summitt's heralded lady Vol basketball signing class has landed on the police blotter.

Alexis Hornbuckle has been arrested in her hometown of Charleston, West Virginia and charged with shoplifting, a misdemeanor.

She reported faces a June 21 hearing. Hornbuckle, a 5-10 guard was voted High School Basketball Player of the Year by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. She averaged 24 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assissts, 5 blocks and 7 steals per game last season. She was a consensus All-American and projected as a possible first year starter in college.

Hornbuckle is part of an incoming freshman class regarded by many as the greatest signing class in the history of women's basketball. Also in this class are: Sade Wiley Gatewood, Sybil Dosty, Candace Parker, Alex Fuller and Nikki Anosike.
