Lanky DB-WR likes UT

An exceptionally tall wideout/defensive back from the Bluegrass State lists Tennessee among his college favorites.

Maurice Urrutia is a 6-foot-4, 180-pounder from Fern Creek (Ky.) High School. He covers 40 yards in 4.6 seconds.

Older brother Mario signed with Louisville last year, and the Cardinals are the only program thus far to offer a scholarship to Maurice.

''Louisville is still my only offer,'' Urrutia told Scott Kennedy of ''I just got back from the Kentucky camp, and I am trying to get to the Louisville camp this month. My Top Teams are Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan and Tennessee.''

Like most high schoolers, Urrutia is looking for a college program where he can get on the field quickly.

''I like Kentucky, because I might be able to play early there,'' he said. 'Also Coach (Joker) Phillips called me in May and came by the school. Louisville was my favorite team for as long as I can remember, and they're the only school to offer me.

''I took an unofficial visit to Michigan, and I like the town, the University, and the facilities. I've been receiving a lot of hand written letters from Tennessee. They also came by the school to see me in May.''

The Vols also are recruiting a lanky in-state receiver, 6-5, 210-pound Patrick Turner of Goodpasture.
