Vols No. 14 in Preseason Coaches Poll

Reaching the SEC Championship game will require Tennessee to climb over a couple of top ten schools as ranked by the just released NCAA Division I coaches poll.

Georgia checks in at No. 4 in the rankings and Florida is listed at No. 10. Tennessee, which is not far behind at No. 14 in the poll, last won the SEC East in 2001, but was upset by LSU needing a win to advance to the BCS championship game at the Rose Bowl.

Whichever team emerges from the rugged SEC East will likely face a more formidable challenge in the title tilt. Defending co-national champion LSU is ranked No. 3 in the coaches poll behind Southern Cal and Oklahoma. The Tigers received five first place votes. Auburn is the only other SEC team rated among the nation's top 25 at No. 18.

The remaining top ten teams include: No. 5 Miami, No. 6 Florida State, No. 7 Michigan, No. 8 Texas and No. 9 Ohio State.

Tennessee plays Florida in Knoxville and goes on the road to engage Georgia. The Vols have lost four straight to the Bulldogs after owning the upper hand in nine straight encounters. UT only plays two teams rated in the preseason top 25.
