Kentuckian likes UT

At 6-1 and 210 pounds, he's cut from the mold of recent UT outside linebackers Eric Westmoreland and Eddie Moore. But he's from the heart of Bluegrass Country, not Big Orange Country.

Brandon Logan is a productive 'backer from Catholic High in Lexington, Ky. He's ranked No. 25 at his position nationally by TheInsiders and he's drawn scholarship offers from some big-time schools, including Tennessee.

''My top five is still Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisville, Florida and Michigan,'' Logan recently told Scott Kennedy of TheInsiders.com. ''I called Michigan back in July, and I've been in touch with Coach Joker Phillips at Kentucky. I will go to Michigan for a game this year and I want to go to a Florida home game if I can.''

Logan will be playing strictly linebacker this year, since Catholic returns nine starters on offense and five on defense.

Tennessee will be hard-pressed to beat out UK and Louisville for this standout but the Vols have had success in Kentucky previously. They have signed four linebackers from the Bluegrass State in the past decade -- Shawn Johnson, Bernard Jackson and Jerrod Hayden (all from Louisville) and Chester Ford (Danville).

UT also has signed Kentucky natives such as WR Montrell Jones (Louisville), OL Rob Smith (Fort Thomas), OL Brad Lampley (Louisville) and WR Craig Faulkner (Richmond) in recent years.
