Wednesday Practice Report

KNOXVILLE- Tennessee practiced indoors for the second consecutive day due to inclement weather. The Vols got a head start on next week's opponent, Florida. The team is also resting some of their walking wounded.

"We got a good start on Florida, even though we haven't seen them play this year," Fulmer said. "We studied their bowl game and our game(last year). We‚ve got a good idea of what we need to work on. I can't wait to see them play."

Although UNLV gave the Vols some fits defensively, Fulmer and the rest of the staff know that tougher challenges lie ahead.

"The true test comes when you play Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Auburn," Fulmer said.

Brent Schaeffer and Erik Ainge's performance continued to get high marks from Fulmer, too. The two true freshman quarterbacks apparently called a pretty good game.

"They handled things pretty well," Fulmer said. "There was a lot of stuff called in the huddle they didn't have to look to the sidelines to get. They were right a lot more than they were wrong. There were four or five plays out of 72 that weren't run in the right direction or was the wrong play call."

Tennessee practices again on Thursday before taking Friday off.
