Thursday Practice Report

KNOXVILLE-The Vols had their best practice of the week on Thursday. Head coach Phillip Fulmer looks like he will put plenty of responsibility on the offense to try and knock Louisiana Tech out of the game early.

"I'm going to lean heavily on the offensive front,"Fulmer said. "The running backs and receivers need to keep doing what they're doing. The defense needs to give a team effort to get (Ryan Moats) stopped and make him do some things he might not want to do." "We've been pretty balanced with what we've done."

Defensively, Jon Poe will start at middle linebacker in place of the injured Kevin Simon. In the secondary, Corey Campbell has bounced back from a rough opener and could see extensive playing time at strong safety along with Brandon Johnson

"Corey has worked hard to get himself back in the rotation," Fulmer said.

Although Jared Hostetter won't be available for at least the next two games due to a lack of conditioning, Fulmer is looking forward to having another body to play on the defensive line.

"He should be back Monday," Fulmer said. "He'll play mostly at end and some at tackle."

On the offensive front, Fulmer thinks he may have Albert Toeaina at his disposal for the first time this year.

"I've got to get the final okay from the doctors, but he very well may take a few snaps in this ballgame," Fulmer said. "Hopefully he'll have a full return on Monday."

Finally, it doesn't look like anything will change regarding the quarterback rotation.

"We'll play it about like we have been," Fulmer said.
