SEC tabs Hall, Smith

Two Tennessee Volunteers were honored by the Southeastern Conference Monday as defensive end Jason Hall and offensive guard Rob Smith were named SEC Players of the Week.

Hall became the second Vol named SEC Defensive Player of the Week, joining linebacker Kevin Burnett who earned the honor for his performance against Florida. Hall turned in seven total tackles including five solo stops with three tackles for loss in UT's 19-14 victory over No. 3 Georgia.

He registered career-high two sacks for minus six yards and added a pass deflection as Tennessee limited the Bulldogs to 265 total yards, including 56 on the ground.

Smith was named the Offensive Lineman of the Week after recording 17 knockdown blocks in helping the Vols out gain the Bulldogs 277-265 while holding the pigskin for 35 minutes and 23 seconds.

He became the third Vol to be named lineman of the week, joining center Jason Respert (UNLV) and Michael Munoz (Louisiana Tech).

Georgia entered the game tied for first in the SEC with 2.75 sacks per game, but got to the Tennessee quarterbacks just once on a busted play.
