Brown misses game

Reserve tight end Chris Brown missed Tennessee's game with Alabamaa due to a disciplinary action. A 6-2, 235-pound freshman from New Orleans, Brown was caught shoplifting at a Knoxville mall Friday night and was held out of the game by head coach Phillip Fulmer.

Fulmer called Brown's mistake ''a really inconsiderate and selfish act,'' adding that the player ''will be punished internally.''

Brown's suspension comes on the heels of an incident last Monday morning in which safety Brandon Johnson discharged a firearm.

''We had two incidents this week that are not reflective of our character and our football team,'' Fulmer said.
