South Hot 100 TE Back from Tennessee

Jeff Cottam is one of the top tight end prospects in the country. He carries a Scout.com Ranking of the #7 ranked Tight End in the Nation, and he is a member of the South Hot 100. Cottam took an official visit to Tennessee last weekend. What were his impressions?

"Me and my parents drove over on Saturday morning," said Jeff Cottam. "We checked in and went to eat the pre-game meal with the team. We got to go on the field for pre game warm ups before going to our seats for the game."

"I really enjoyed the game. The crowd was mostly quiet until Tennessee started their comeback, then it got really loud. After the game we went back to the hotel and rested a bit. Brad (brother Brad Cottam) came and got me and we went to Coach Fulmer's house for dinner. We got to eat with the other recruits that were there on their visit. Eating dinner at Coach Fulmer's house was pretty awesome."

"Sunday morning we got up and ate breakfast and went to the academic meeting. We toured all of the facilities and we ate lunch at Calhoun's. After lunch we had a meeting with Coach Adkins and Coach Fulmer. Basically, we talked about where I fit into their plans. They showed me the depth chart and what they expect out of their student athletes."

"We stayed over until Monday, and we headed back to Nashville Monday morning. I won the Mr. Football Award for the State of Tennessee in Class 5A. I was totally caught off guard. It was very exciting. I would give my visit a 9 out of 10."

Where does his visit put Cottam in the recruiting process now?

"I still have one visit set for Ole Miss on December 10th. I think three visits will be all I will need. Tennessee is a slight leader over Alabama and le Miss. Coach Shula will be in home Tuesday (tonight). Coach Adkins said he was going to try and make it for an in home on Thursday."

Cottam has already visited Alabama (11-13), and it looks like he will have a decision after his visit to Ole Miss next weekend.
