Tennessee led 57-47 with 7:00 left in regulation but the Gators roared back to tie the score at 70-70 when Anthony Roberson hit an off-balance 3-pointer with 8 seconds left. McFadgon missed a potential game-winner at the buzzer, and the game went to OT.
Freshman Chris Lofton hit a couple of quick 3-pointers to give Tennessee a 76-72 lead in the extra period. Baskets by Roberson and Corey Brewer tied the game at 76-all but the Gators would not score again. C.J. Watson broke the tie with a 17-foot jumper, then McFadgon hit one of two free throws.
Watson missed a pair of free throws that could've salted the game away with 27 seconds left but Roberson missed a 3-pointer and Tennessee rebounded. McFadgon iced the game by hitting two free throws with 13.2 seconds left, then added two more after a Gator turnover to close the scoring.
Florida led by a point at halftime and still clung to a one-point lead (45-44) midway through the second half. Tennessee then went on an 11-0 run to build a 55-45 lead. Lofton opened the surge with a 3, then McFadgon hit from 18 feet. Crump rammed home a slam in transition, then Andre Patterson hit two free throws, followed by a follow dunk to cap the explosion.
Tennessee still led by six (68-62) inside two minutes but Roberson scored five of the Gators' final eight regulation points to tie the score.
The Vols had opened the game aggressively, getting two layups and a Crump dunk en route to a 6-3 lead. Tennessee still led 10-9 after a layup by Major Wingate but Taurean Green hit a 3 to cap an 8-2 spurt that put the Gators on top 17-12.
Lofton warmed up at this point, scoring off a steal, then nailing a 3-pointer. McFadgon hit a couple of short jumpers to cap a 9-3 spurt that put Tennessee up 23-20 with around 3:00 left in the half.
Matt Walsh, sidelined four games by an ankle injury, came off the bench to hit a 3-pointer that put Florida ahead 25-23 but Crump answered with a three-point play to give Tennessee a 26-25 lead.
Two free throws by David Lee put the Gators up 27-26. Lofton hit a 3 for the Vols but Walsh answered for Florida, and the hosts led 30-29 at halftime.
Tennessee outshot Florida 44-39 percent from the field in the opening half but the Gators dominated the backboards 23-10 and shot 8 of 10 from the foul line, compared to Tennessee's 1 of 3.
