Tuesday Practice Report

KNOXVILLE - Tennessee returned to the practice field on Tuesday afternoon to tighten some screws following Saturday's big scrimmage. According to Head Coach Phillip Fulmer, the team turned in a good work-out on both sides of the ball.

"I liked our practice today," Fulmer said. "It was just a good old fashioned tough physical practice." Most notebly, Fulmer dished out some high praise for a couple of young linemen.

"I'm really excited about Ell Ash," Fulmer said. "I'm really excited about Demonte Bolden and his progress. David Ligon has taken some major league steps in the last week or so. The thing that they‚ve got to understand is the fall is too late. Right now is when you make the football team for the most part. Steven Jones is trying to be tougher and that was his challenge coming in." Cody Douglas was held out of practice as it looks like his spring has come to a premature conclusion.

"Cody will have a scope in a short time," Fulmer said. "I would imagine he's going to have to have that knee cleaned up a little bit. He'll be ready to go three or four weeks after that."

Tennessee practices again on Thursday and Friday.
