Arkansas lineman likes UT

Arkansas is a state that has sent some quality players to the Vol football program in recent years, and it might be sending one more.

Jim Hart, a 6-5, 300-pound offensive tackle from Pocahontas High School, lists the Vols among his early favorites. He recorded 85 pancake blocks last fall and did not allow a sack. He also averaged 9 points per game for the Pocahontas basketball team.

Tennessee has not yet offered a scholarship but two schools have.

''I've gotten offers from Mississippi State and Arkansas State,'' Hart told Scott Kennedy of ''I went to the Mississippi State camp already, and I'm going to the Arkansas camp later this month. I don't really have any favorites, but if I had to name some schools they would be Arkansas, Mississippi State and Tennessee.''

"I like Mississippi State because they've offered me, and I like talking with Coach Grimes,'' he added, referring to offensive line coach J.B. Grimes.

Arkansas, he added, ''is close to home, and I grew up a Hog fan.''

Tennessee's lure, Hart said, is ''a great fan following.''

The Vols have enjoyed outstanding success with players from Arkansas in the past decade. Notable signees from the state include offensive lineman Reggie Coleman and defensive tackle Greg Jones (Jonesboro), tailback Cedric Houston (Clarendon), receiver Bret Smith and cornerback Roshaun Fellows (Warren).
