Lanky WR likes Tennessee

A wide receiver with an intriguing blend of size and speed is looking long and hard at the Tennessee Vols.

Matt Quinn is a 6-6, 195-pounder from Byrnes High of Duncan, S.C. Blessed with 4.6 speed, he caught 24 balls for 240 yards and four touchdowns as a junior last fall.

With seniors Chris Hannon and C.J. Fayton (and possibly sophomore Robert Meachem)due to leave following the 2005 season, Tennessee is looking for reinforcements at the wideout positions, and Quinn seems ready to volunteer for duty.

"I am looking at Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Appalachian State, and I have an offer from Delaware," he told Miller Safrit of "I went to the senior camp at Vanderbilt and senior camp at Tennessee."

Quinn's upside, like his frame, is enormous. Most schools, including Tennessee, want to see how much he has improved since his junior year before they plunk down a scholarship offer, however.

"They want to see how I do in the first couple of games," Quinn said. "The big thing for me is going to be the offense."
