Matchup: Vanderbilt

This week, Tennessee takes on Vanderbilt in Knoxville. This is our take on this Vols vs Commodores matchup.

Game #: 1115
Site: Knoxville
Date: Nov. 19
Conference: SECE
Coach Match-up:
For the Vols - Fulmer and for the Commodores - Johnson

Vandy is averaging 9.5 more rushing yards per game and 83 more yards of total offense. That's not the fault of UT's line, which has done a nice job in pass protection.

Cutler is the best quarterback in the SEC. Rick Clausen is getting his sixth while. While misleading, UT is 1-4 in games Clausen has started.

Vanderbilt's No. 2 rusher, Jeff Jennings, won't play because of a torn ACL. Cassen Jackson-Garrison, a product of Knoxville Central, leads the team with 479 yards and is averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Foster has averaged 135 yards in his three starts.

Bennett, a true freshman, is the best receiver on the field. Vandy doesn't think Erik Davis (hamstring) will play. Davis has 46 catches. UT's receivers have been a major disappointed.

Vandy is giving up 161.8 rushing yards per game. UT ranks fourth in the nation in rush defense (90.2).

Moses Osemwegie leads Vandy with 102 tackles. UT's Kevin Simon and Omar Gaither have had strong seasons.

Vandy is giving up 233.7 yards per game. Opponents have completed 59 percent of their passes for 16 touchdowns. Vandy has just six interceptions. UT is giving up 209 yards per game. Opponents have hit 57.7 percent of their passes for six touchdowns. UT has just six interceptions.

ennett is averaging 7.3 yards per punt return and 23.8 yards pre kick return. The punting and field-goal kicking is about even.

Vandy might play better without the pressure of trying to earn a bowl bid. UT doesn't want to snap a 22-game streak over Vandy or a 16-year bowl streak.

Tennessee 27, Vanderbilt 24.
