Arian gets SEC honor

Tennessee tailback Arian Foster was outstanding down the stretch for the Vols, and this week the Southeastern Conference named him SEC Freshman of the Week.

Foster, a 6-1, 211-pounder from San Diego, Calif., closed out an impressive second half of the season Saturday by rushing 26 times for 114 yards in Tennessee's 27-8 win at Kentucky. The redshirt-freshman finished his season with 879 yards rushing -- fifth-best total in UT freshman history -- on 183 attempts with five touchdowns in 11 games.

He took over as the starter after Gerald Riggs Jr., was injured in Tennessee's Oct. 22 game at Alabama and stands sixth among SEC rushing leaders in 2005 and second among SEC freshmen with 79.9 yards per game. That figure also ranks sixth among Division I-A freshman rushing leaders.
