Vols too bright?

The University of Tennessee football team grossly underachieved on the field last fall, finishing 5-6, but led the entire Southeastern Conference with 30 Academic Honor Roll members.

CHEAP SHOT NO. 1: This must have been the first season in SEC history that Vanderbilt had the better football team but Tennessee had the SMARTER team.

CHEAP SHOT NO. 2: Now that Vol head coach Phillip Fulmer has raised the team's grade-point average maybe he can concentrate on raising the team's scoring average.

CHEAP SHOT NO. 3: Interestingly enough, both members of Tennessee's quarterback platoon – Rick Clausen and Erik Ainge – qualified for the league honor roll. Still, neither of them could figure out how to get the ball in the end zone on a consistent basis.

CHEAP SHOT NO. 4: How could the Vols be so adept at making A's and so inept at making TDs?

CHEAP SHOT NO. 5: At least Tennessee's football team beat Vandy, Florida, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina at SOMETHING.
