UT recruiting 'very well'

Matt Luke isn't wasting any time in his first year as recruiting coordinator for Tennessee's football program.

Luke, who also coaches tight ends, is a young, charismatic and energetic guy who served in the same dual role at Ole Miss before joining the UT staff earlier this year. His youthful enthusiasm already has helped the Vols secure verbal commitments from five quality prospects for their 2007 signing class. They are:

Anthony Anderson, 6-2, 175 receiver, Knoxville

Tyler Maples, 6-4, 180 receiver, Maryville

Todd Campbell, 6-1, 190 receiver, Franklin

Darris Sawtelle, 6-5, 285, offensive line, Bloomfield, Michigan

Kevin Cooper, 6-1, 240 fullback, Chattanooga

NCAA rules prohibit Luke from discussing unsigned prospects. However, he's happy to discuss UT's quick start on the recruiting front.

"I think recruiting's going very well," he said. "We've just got to keep going, keep recruiting with energy. It's still early in the recruiting process, and nothing's finalized until February, as we all know.

"We still have a long ways to go but I think things are going very well at the beginning."
