Fulmer, Nutt under scrutiny

How much pressure is Phillip Fulmer under? Enough to bear watching Tennessee's head football this fall. So says Pat Forde of ESPN.com.

In a piece called "Three things to watch for in the SEC," Forde lists the No. 1 item as the sophomore season of South Carolina's Steve Spurrier. Specifically, Forde wonders: "Now that Steve Spurrier has established a beachhead in the Eastern Division, how far does the invasion go in Year 2?"

Forde lists his No. 3 thing to watch as: "Who plays quarterback at LSU?"

Forde's No. 2 thing to watch for in the SEC this fall is how Fulmer and Arkansas head man Houston Nutt handle the pressure to bounce back following disappointing seasons in 2005. Forde's comments are as follows:

Phil Fulmer and Houston Nutt, you're on the clock. Two coaches who have been hailed at various times as the best in their respective divisions will be under legitimate pressure to win this year. Toward that end, both have shaken up their offensive staffs, with longtime QB guru David Cutcliffe back on Rocky Top and former high school coach Gus Malzahn taking over as coordinator in Fayetteville. The pressure will be on immediately, with Tennessee opening against California and Arkansas hosting USC.
