Former UT pitcher Luke Hudson was promoted from Class AAA Louisville to the Cincinnati Reds Major League roster over the weekend, and could make his big league debut any day now.
Hudson, who played for the Vols from 1996-98, was called up to fill the roster spot vacated by pitcher Jose Silva, who has returned to the disabled list. At Louisville, Hudson posted a 4-6 record with a 4.57 ERA in 13 starts and two relief appearances. At the time of his promotion, he ranked fifth in the International League with 86 strikeouts.
Tabbed by the Colorado Rockies in the fifth round of the 1998 draft, Hudson was traded to the Reds organization last December, along with lefthand pitcher Gabe White. In exchange, the Rockies got infielder Pokey Reese and lefthand pitcher Dennys Reyes.
Hudson compiled a 15-5 career mark with a 4.93 ERA as a Volunteer.
