Vols make under-25 team

Three former University of Tennessee standouts rank among the National Football League's finest players under age 25, according to a list compiled by former Dallas Cowboys personnel director Gil Brandt.

Brandt, who now writes columns for the NFL.com website, recently had a note posted at CBS.sportsline.com listing his All Under-25 Offense. The first-team tight end was former Vol Jason Witten of the Dallas Cowboys.

Today Brandt's All Under-25 Defense can be viewed at CBS.sportsline.com. It lists former UT standout Dustin Colquitt (now with the Kansas City Chiefs) as the No. 1 punter. Former Vol Albert Haynesworth (now with the Tennessee Titans) is listed among "others considered" at defensive tackle. Brandt's first-team tackles are Tommie Harris (Bears) and Vince Wilfork (Patriots).

Haynesworth, a first-round draft pick in 2002, has started 24 games in three years with the Titans. He has 166 career stops, 45 sacks and 22 tackles for loss. His best year was 2004, when he registered 62 stops, including 11 tackles for loss.

Colquitt, a third-round draft pick in 2005, averaged 39.4 yards on 65 punts as a rookie last fall, with a long punt of 62 yards. He had 27 punts downed inside the 20-yard line with only five touchbacks.

In addition to Haynesworth, three more SEC players earned "others considered" recognition on Brandt's All Under-25 Defense. They were former Kentucky defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson (New York Jets), former South Carolina cornerback Dunta Robinson (Houston Texans) and former LSU linebacker Bradie James (Dallas Cowboys).
