Five Vols preseason All-SEC

The 2006 Coaches Preseason All-SEC Team was released by the league this week, with five Tennessee players earning inclusion. Senior offensive tackle Arron Sears and senior defensive tackle Justin Harrell were both first-team selections.

Sophomore tailback Arian Foster and junior defensive back Jonathan Hefney were selected to the second-team offense and defense, respectively. Tennessee's preseason All-SEC contingent was rounded out by third-team defensive lineman Turk McBride.

Every SEC school has representatives on the All-SEC squad, and 10 of the 12 league teams had first-team selections. Tennessee?s five selections ranked eighth among all league schools.

Of the 88 student-athletes named to the first, second and third teams, nine are sophomores, 26 are juniors and 53 are seniors.

Sears, LSU defensive back LaRon Landry and Auburn punter Kody Bliss were repeat first-team selections from the 2005 Coaches Preseason All-SEC Team.

This is the third year of the SEC Coaches Preseason All-SEC Football Team. It is released in advance of the 2006 SEC Football Media Days, which will be held July 26-28, at the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Ala. Media in attendance at SEC Football Media Days will vote on the All-SEC Team and a predicted order of finish for the league.
