Scrimmage highlights

Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer figured scrimmaging Tuesday night, just three days after a full-scale scrimmage on Saturday night, his players would be tired and a little flat. He was correct. The Vols' final dress rehearsal wasn't as energetic as its two predecessors but it was just as entertaining.

"They're tired of hitting each other, tired of practicing this much," Fulmer said. "Monday was a tough, tough, tough day. They bit it off and spit it out. Tonight I knew would be tough."

Because of the fatigue factor, there were a few more sloppy plays than normal. Foremost among these was a shotgun snap from redshirt freshman Josh McNeil that sailed over the head of quarterback Erik Ainge and resulted in a 17-yard loss.

"The gun snap kind of just really ruined my day," Fulmer said. "Things like that will get you beat."

The mistake stunned the head coach, who said the Vols hadn't had a bad shotgun snap going all the way back to spring practice last March.

"We hadn't had one," he said. "We'd had a bunch of snaps in the spring and everything. But that's a different kind of deal."

Here is a recap of the scrimmage highlights and lowlights:
