Clay Greene returns to Tennessee baseball

On Wednesday Tennessee head baseball coach Rod Delmonico announced the hiring of former Vol centerfielder Clay Greene to an assistant coaching position.

Greene will work with the outfielders and coach first base during games. Greene served as a part-time assistant for Cleveland State Community College this past year. CSCC finished with a 25-17-2 record overall.

Greene spent four years in the San Francisco Giants organization. While he was at Tennessee he led the NCAA in stolen bases (54) in 1997. He finished his Vol career with a solid .318 batting average and 87 total stolen bases. His stolen base total is still fourth all-time in NCAA history.
