08/10/02 Saturday Evening Practice Report

A "Heck of a day" is the way Phillip Fulmer described Saturday's work-outs. The Vols head coach also pointed to the players in the treches saying, I'm impressed with the energy and enthusiasm on the lines."

In the secondary, an interception by Corey Larkins and a PBU by Jabari Greer led Fulmer to say, "The defensive backs are trying to be factors."

On the other side of the ball Montrell Jones, C.J. Fayton, Tony Brown, Leonard Scott, and Jonathan Wade are battling to be Tennessee's second receiver opposite Kelley Washington.

Aaron Kirkland, a freshman tight end, gained the praise of Fulmer, too. At 6'4 and 250 lbs. Kirkland could be the answer for UT's tight end question.

Tennessee welcomed a few unofficial visitors on Saturday afternoon, too. A pair of highly touted high school quarterbacks took in the work-out. Charlotte's Chris Leak and California's Kyle Wright were both in attendance. The duo was joined by Dorian Bryant a wide receiver from New Jersey and Mike Jones a lineman from Chicago.
