SEC Ratings

Florida poured on the points in a 62-0 annihilation of Western Carolina last weekend, while Arkansas struggled to get past Mississippi State 28-14. I don't give style points for humiliating woeful foes, so the Razorbacks still rank ahead of the Gators in my SEC Ratings.

Here they are:

.ARKANSAS (9.0): The Razorbacks won their 10th game in a row, beating Mississippi State 28-14. With their vaunted ground game shut down, the Hogs needed a 92-yard kickoff return by Darren McFadden and an 87-yard interception return by Chris Houston.

.FLORIDA (8.5): The Gators scored TDs on nine of their first 10 possessions en route to a 62-0 drubbing of hapless Western Carolina.

.LSU (8.0) JaMarcus Russell and Dwayne Bowe hooked up on a school-record 22nd TD pass in the final minute, forcing an overtime as the Tigers rallied from a 20-7 deficit to nip Ole Miss 23-20.

.TENNESSEE (7.5): The return of tailback LaMarcus Coker (10 carries for 126 yards) and quarterback Erik Ainge (21 of 26 for 266 yards) revived the Vols' offense and spurred a 39-10 pasting of Vanderbilt.

.SOUTH CAROLINA (7.0): Blake Mitchell, who lost the QB job to Syvelle Newton at midseason before recently reclaiming it, completed 21 of 28 passes for 388 yards and 4 TDs in a 52-7 blowout of Middle Tennessee.

.AUBURN (7.0): Brandon Cox, who was 4 of 12 last week vs. Georgia, completed just 6 of 14 as the Tigers posted a fifth consecutive defeat of Alabama, prevailing 22-15.

.GEORGIA (6.0): The Bulldogs were idle.

.KENTUCKY (6.0): Keenan Burton caught three touchdown passes – giving him multiple TD catches four games in a row – as the Big Blue outlasted Louisiana Monroe 42-40.

.VANDERBILT (5.5): The Commodores are like a ship without a rudder when star quarterback Chris Nickson is limited to 10 completions in 23 attempts for 97 yards – as was the case in Saturday's 39-10 loss to Tennessee.

.ALABAMA (5.5): By losing 22-15 to Auburn, the Tide finished regular-season play 6-6 overall, 2-6 in SEC action and 0-5 vs. ranked opponents. Thank God for non-conference patsies Louisiana Monroe, Florida International, Duke and Hawaii, right Bama?

.OLE MISS (5.0): Former Vol Brent Schaeffer was benched in the second half, then returned in overtime, only to fumble away the Rebels' last hope in a 23-20 loss to LSU.

.MISSISSIPPI STATE (5.0): The Bulldogs limited Darren McFadden and Felix Jones to 42 rushing yards through three quarters, then wilted in a 28-14 loss to the Razorbacks.
