UT to begin 'tailgate tour'

Vol football fans, friends and alumni have a chance to make pregame festivities even more memorable at road games this fall, thanks to the Big Orange Tailgate Tour.

UT's National Alumni Association is gearing up for the inaugural BOTT. The stops are Nashville (vs. Wyoming, August 31 and Vanderbilt, November 23), Athens, Georgia (vs. Georgia, October 12), Columbia, South Carolina (vs. South Carolina, November 2) and Starkville, Mississippi (vs. Mississippi State, November 16).

Each pre-game event begins three hours before kickoff, and is conveniently located to the stadiums at each away game. There will be tailgate-style food available, along with plenty of Rocky Top and fun for the entire family. Included will be the first-ever ROCKY TOP SING-OFF, with prizes given to the best rendition at each tour stop. A grand prize will be awarded at season's end.

In addition, participants can look forward to listening to the UT Pride of the Southland Band, cheerleaders and a special appearance by Smokey. There's even face painting.

UT merchandise and game-specific spirit buttons will be available, as well as door-prize drawings throughout the event.

All participants who pre-register for a tailgate tour stop will be automatically entered into a drawing for two post-season bowl tickets. The drawing will occur at the end of the season.

The cost is $15 for adults and $8 for children ages 3-12.

To pre-register or obtain more information, call the National Alumni Association office at 865-974-3011 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
