Thursday Afternoon Practice Report

The Vols wrapped up their off week work on Thursday afternoon at Upper Hudson Field. Tennessee takes Friday and Saturday off before getting back in their normal game week routine on Sunday night. According to Phillip Fulmer the final practice of the week went quite well. "We had a good week...and got an early start on Florida," said the Vols head coach.

Tennessee should be as healthy as they've been in quite some time when they get back to work on Monday. "Alex (Walls) and Kelley (Washington) should be ready to go," Fulmer acknowledged after practice. Fulmer is particularly excited to have Washington back. "Having him out there a little bit is better then not having him at all," Fulmer said of his star wide receiver.

Another player expected back from injury on Monday is offensive lineman Chavis Smith. Smith's return is timely due to the fact that Jason Respert suffered a stinger in his shoulder on Wednesday. Should Respert not be back in action, Fulmer says, "Preparations are being made if he's not ready."

As for Florida, Fulmer still believes the Gators are loaded with talent. He also thinks Tennessee will need to correct the mistakes that got the team in trouble against MTSU. Penalties are still the main concern.

Fulmer will spend Friday on the recruiting trail.
