Tuesday Afternoon Practice Report

Rain, rain go away. The rain soaked the Vols on Tuesday afternoon during practice. Because of high humidity this afternoon, the rain was a welcome change for players and coaches.

The Vols again worked on the multiple alignments of the Florida offense on Tuesday. Gerald Riggs, Jr. and Keldrick Williams worked as the tailback on the scout team to give the defense a better look at the opposing tailback position. The scout team wears bright blue jersies to distinguish themselves as the "Gators."

Tight end Jason Witten played his worst game in orange last season against this weekend's opponent the Florida Gators. Witten fumbled away a first down catch and had a pass deflect out of his arms and into the arms of a Florida defender. Witten does not shy away from the fact that he is ready to redeem himself on Saturday. "I am anxious to play the Gators. I really played bad last season and I want to make it right in front of the coaches, my teammates and 108,000 Tennessee fans."

Tennessee continues to be very serious and focused. More so than I have seen in many months. The secondary is very intense this week. The Florida game is considered by the DBs as "THE money game." Jabari Greer threw that tag on the game this afternoon. "All the draft experts have said that Julian(Battle) is a first rounder and all that," Greer said. "I'm telling him that if he is all that, here is his chance to prove it to everyone." Let's hope that the Vol secondary comes out of the Florida game looking like Microsoft shares and not Enron stock.
