ESPN's GameDay crew will make its fifth visit to the University of Tennessee
campus this Saturday. Neyland Stadium will serve as host site because that's
where the biggest game on this weekend's college football menu -- No. 4 UT
vs. No. 10 Florida -- will take place. Kickoff is set for 3:30.
Host/straight man Chris Fowler will be joined by analyst Kirk Herbstreit and
amateur comedian Lee Corso for the SEC Eastern Division showdown. This will
mark the sixth time ESPN GameDay has featured a Vol-Gator game, which is
more than any other rivalry. ESPN's 90-minute program will begin at 10:30
a.m. Eastern time.
Knoxville's five appearances on GameDay tie for fourth-most in the show's
history, trailing only Gainesville, Fla. (seven), Ann Arbor, Mich. (six),
and South Bend, Ind. (six). GameDay also has visited Miami, Fla., and
Lincoln, Neb., five times.
GameDay's last visit to Knoxville preceded Florida's 27-23 triumph over the
Vols in 2000. Tennessee upset the Gators 34-32 at Florida last year
following the Vols' most recent GameDay appearance.
Other GameDay visits to Knoxville were the 1995 Georgia game, the 1996
Florida game and the 1999 Notre Dame game.
