Wednesday Afternoon Practice Report

The Tennessee football team worked out on Wednesday afternoon in shorts and shoulder pads. Coach Phillip Fulmer seems to be happy with the way his team has progressed to this point.

One of the main reasons the Vols are performing so well this week is that the off-week gave the team some time to get healthy and get an early start on preparing for Florida.

"They have a great respect for Florida and their ability as a football team," Fulmer said of his players. One of the players Fulmer spoke at length about was wide receiver Kelley Washington. Washington's practice time has been limited to ensure his health on Saturday. "We're making sure he can get some quality reps in the ballgame."

Fulmer also took some time to discuss the Florida attack on both sides of the ball. "Offensively they're a very gifted team and defensively they're very active," Fulmer said.

Spreading the field on offense could be key if the Vols want to open things up on gameday. Having Washington back in the line-up will make that a viable option according to Fulmer.

Fulmer said he was "impressed with the way we threw the ball and caught it." As far as his team goes, "They certainly understand how important this game is."

An injury report will update the status of Jason Respert and Tony Brown on Thursday.
