Eight SEC teams in top 25?

Adam Caparell of College Sports TV (a division of CBS) may not be the world's foremost authority on college football ... but he just might be the foremost supporter of Southeastern Conference football.

Caparell has eight SEC teams ranked in a cbs.sportsline.com article projecting his "post-spring pre-season top 25." If he's correct, nearly one-third of the top 25 teams in America this fall will come from the SEC.

Caparell lists two SEC teams in his top 10 – LSU and Florida. Here is his top 10:

1.Southern Cal

2.LSU

3.Michigan

4.West Virginia

5.Wisconsin

6.Texas

7.California

8.Florida

9.Louisville

10.Virginia Tech

Caparell's second 10 features six more SEC teams – Arkansas at No. 15, Auburn at 16, Georgia at 17, Tennessee at 22, Kentucky at 23 and South Carolina at 25.

Here's what Caparell has to say about the Volunteers, who he dropped 10 spots (from 12 to 22) since his previous ratings were posted:

22.Tennessee - Erik Ainge spent the spring on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery, but he should be just fine when the season rolls around. And if he continues to develop like he did last year under David Cutcliffe, then lookout - only if they can establish a consistent running game. The Vols are losing nine starters overall and the defense is going to have a lot to overcome. Previous: 12
