Tuesday Afternoon Practice Report

The Vols once again were knocking each other around on Tuesday to prepare for the Scarlett Knights from Rutgers. Tennessee Coaches continue to be more critical of their players performance during practice drills.

Freshman James Banks saw action on Tuesday at the wide receiver position. Banks has seen some action, but he got more reps today than in past times. Banks looked good, but he will have a long road to learning the routes. Jonathan Wade, Montrell Jones and C.J. Fayton also had very good days catching the football.

Coach Fulmer was very pleased by Tuesday's practice session. "I am happy with the effort. We are still working to improve our second group, but I am happy with where the first group is right now. They are working to correct mistakes, but they are a tough bunch."

Following practice, the captains made a statement to the team. Captains Eddie Moore, Omari Hand and Will Ofenheusle made players that they thought had not practiced with enough effort or missed practice run sprints in the sand. This is a perfect example of leadership that this team will need get through a tough remaining nine game season.

Cedric Houston was back at practice today, but did not do conditioning drills after practice. Karlton Neal was again not dressed out for practice. Neal continues to nurse a sore knee from his performance against the Gators. Jason Respert and Tony Brown were still mentioned as being not 100 percent. Other than those guys, the team is fairly healthy going into the Rutgers game on Saturday.
