Tennessee drove to a first-and-goal at the Florida 8-yard line but had to settle for a 22-yard field goal by Lincoln that trimmed the gap to 14-6. The Gators again answered immediately, going 58 yards in nine plays to go up 21-6. Tebow kept for 18 yards and later kept for the TD from 7 yards out. After a three-and-out by UT, Florida was at it again, racing 75 yards in five plays to go up 28-6. The big plays saw Tebow hit Louis Murphy for 16 yards, hand to Jarred Fayson for a 28-yard gain then find Cornelius Ingram wide open for a 20-yard TD. Tennessee took the ensuing kickoff and went 64 yards in nine plays, scoring on a 15-yard Ainge-to-Chris Brown pass with 25 seconds left to intermission.

The Gators marched to the Vol 16-yard line but Vol freshman Eric Berry stepped in front of a Tebow pass and returned the interception 96 yards for a touchdown that pulled Tennessee within 28-20. The Vols got the ball back at their 12-yard line moments later, needing a TD and a two-point conversion to tie the score. Instead, Ainge and Arian Foster botched a handoff that Florida linebacker Dustin Doe scooped up and returned 17 yards for a touchdown, padding the lead to 35-20. After a three-and-out by UT, James fumbled Colquitt's punt but recovered at it the Gator 1-yard line. Tebow hit Percy Harvin with a 49-yard pass to get Florida off its goal line and the Gators were still driving as the quarter ended.
KEY PLAY

Doe's fumble return. That broke the Vols' momentum and also broke their backs.

KEY PLAYER

Berry. His 96-yard interception return could've been the game-changing play if Tennessee hadn't given the TD right back moments later.

KEY STAT

Florida kept the ball 14 minutes and 33 seconds in the quarter. Tennessee had the ball 27 seconds, covering three scrimmage plays and a punt.
