Thursday Afternoon Practice Report

Tennessee finally got some good news on the injury report on Thursday. Coach Phillip Fulmer said a couple of the hurt would be ready this Saturday.

"Good to get out in the weather," Coach Fulmer said after practice. "We are expecting some wet weather in Athens on Saturday, so it was good to get out here and be ready just in case." The team looked very sharp today. They only go about 50 percent through their drills, but looked sharp mentally.

The big question still circulates around the quarterback position. Casey Clausen did not practice again on Thursday, but he did go inside the huddle each time to help the backup quarterbacks. Fulmer confessed that final decision may not come until it is time for someone to run out onto the field on Saturday.

Cedric Houston was back at practice and will be available for special teams work Saturday. "I doubt he will carry the ball," Fulmer said. "He could if we needed him to, but I seriously doubt he will be running the ball. He is a very unselfish kid and he just wants to help this football team."

Karlton Neal was also back at practice on Thursday. He should see more playing time than Houston. Fulmer said he doesn't expect Neal to start, but he will see some reps.

The Vols will have a walk-through on Friday afternoon in Athens at Sanford Stadium. The game will begin at 3:30pm EST and will be broadcast nationally by CBS.
