Angie Bjorklund SEC Frosh of Week

Tennessee basketball forward Angie Bjorklund garnered Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honors on Monday for her outstanding performance against No. 24 Old Dominion on Dec. 5. In that game, she led the team in scoring, rebounding and steals.

The Spokane Valley, Wash., native poured in 19 points on six-of-seven shooting from the field, including a three-of-four clip from beyond the arc. She sank all four of her free throw attempts to remain perfect from the charity stripe this season.

Angie Bjorklund pulled down eight rebounds, picked off four Lady Monarch passes, recorded three assists and a block and earned her seventh consecutive starting nod as a Lady Vol.

The 6'0 shooter has dropped in 13 three-pointers against opponents this season, including nine against ranked foes. She made four treys against Texas, tying for the third-most in a single game by a Lady Vol rookie - only Kara Lawson made more in a contest during her freshman campaign.

Bjorklund is the first Lady Vol freshman to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors since Candace Parker did so five times during the 2005-06 season.

Tennessee hosts Middle Tennessee on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. and Gonzaga on Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. Bjorklund's sister, Jami, plays for the Zags.
