Rea reaches Indoor semis

Tennessee's Simon Rea reached the semifinals of the Omni Hotels Region III Indoor tennis championships before losing on Monday.

Rea knocked off three seeded opponents on his way to the semis, where he fell 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 to Vanderbilt's Bobby Reynolds, the No. 2 seed and the NCAA's No. 9 player.

''Simon played a great match,'' Vol associate head coach Chris Mahoney said. ''He most certainly left everything he had on the court and came up just a fraction short against one of the best players in the country.... He should take a lof of confidence into the (USTA/UT Men's Pro Challenger), as well as the coming spring dual-match season.''
