Colquitt suspended 5 games

Tennessee punter Britton Colquitt will miss the Vols' first five games of 2008 and will be without his scholarship from this point forward.

Head coach Phillip Fulmer announced the penalty in a prepared statement released by the UT sports information office.

Colquitt was arrested early Sunday morning for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. It was his fifth alcohol-related incident since he signed with UT out of Bearden High School in 2003.

"I'm very disappointed that Britton doesn't appreciate the blessings he has been given from his family and his team," Fulmer said in the statement. "Along with the five-game suspension, I am taking his scholarship away and he will be required to undergo alcohol counseling as well as other internal punishments."

Fulmer also suspended Colquitt in March of 2004. The player reshirted that fall, however, so he did not miss any games as result of the disciplinary action.
