Vol hoops reception planned

A reception featuring Tennessee basketball coach Bruce Pearl is scheduled Thursday night in Atlanta, where the Vols will begin play in the SEC Tournament on Friday.

Tennessee Alumni and Vol Fans:

Join Tennessee Vols head coach Bruce Pearl and UT men's athletics director Mike Hamilton, Thursday night, March 13, in Atlanta, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel (265 Peachtree Center), in A601 Room (Atrium Level) for a Vols reception to tip-off the 2008 SEC Tournament.

The registration begins at 5:30 p.m. (ET) and the event will conclude in time for basketball fans to attend the second session of opening round games of the SEC Tournament. The event will be the first of many alumni events associated with the 2008 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament in Atlanta. Cost is $25. Included will be heavy hors d'oeuvres and door prizes will be awarded throughout the event.

Pre-reservations are STRONGLY recommended and can be done on-line at www.utalumni.tennessee.edu/bottmen.html. There will be LIMITED walkups available.

The fun continues throughout the weekend as the Vols advance at the SEC Tournament. If the Vols reach the SEC semifinals and finals, the UT Alumni Association and the UT Men's Athletics Department will host the Big Orange Tailgate Tour (10 a.m. – Noon ET) at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center (South Tower) in the Exhibit Hall. The location is only a block from the Georgia Dome! Admission is free!

The Big Orange Tailgate Tour will include a full pep rally with the UT pep band, cheerleaders and Smokey in attendance. Complimentary refreshments will be served. Door prizes will be given away during the event.
