Lady Vol is finalist for soccer award

Lady Vol senior Kim Patrick (Pleasanton, Calif.) is one of 15 finalists for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy for men and women, awarded to the top players in NCAA Division I soccer. Patrick, who has led UT in scoring each of the past two seasons, is the lone student-athlete from the Southeastern Conference mentioned on the list.

Since transferring in from the University of North Carolina, the striker has totaled 61 points on 23 goals and 15 assists and powered Head Coach Angela Kelly's squad into the national rankings. Rated 13th nationally, UT (13-5-1) will face Georgia (8-10-1) Thursday in the quarterfinal round of the SEC Tourney at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium.

''It's an honor for me to be included with so many great players,'' Patrick said. ''I've always heard about the Hermann Trophy but never thought I would be a finalist. While this individual recognition is nice, my focus is on helping our team do well in the SEC Tournament this weekend.''
