Scrimmage highlights

Here are the highlights of Saturday's third full-scale scrimmage of Tennessee's spring practice:

Arian Foster rambled for a 12-yard gain on the very first play.

Jonathan Crompton found tight end Luke Stocker for a 10-yard gain on play No. 2.

Crompton tossed over the middle to Foster, who made a nifty move in turning a five-yard catch into a 15-yard gain on play No. 3.

Following a false start penalty on guard Vladimir Richard, Crompton overthrew fullback Kevin Cooper on a safety-valve pass, then overthrew Stocker, resulting in a 21-yard interception return by safety Anthony Anderson.

Walk-on cornerback Derrick Furlow dropped Gerald Jones for a loss of a yard on a quick hitch.

Cornerback Dennis Rogan just missed a 50-yard interception return for touchdown when he bobbled a pass thrown by Nick Stephens.

Safety DeAngelo Willingham made a nice open-field tackle to stop Jakouri Williams after a one-yard gain.

Denarius Moore blocked the first punt attempt of Chad Cunningham. Gerald Jones scooped up the loose ball and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown.

Linebacker Savion Frazier threw Arian Foster for a one-yard loss.

Fullback Kevin Cooper caught a short pass from Crompton, bounced off a would-be tackler and picked up 12 yards.

Redshirt freshman Art Evans made a nice play to break up a pass intended for Josh Briscoe.

Crompton found Stocker for a 12-yard gain.

Lennon Creer showcased a nifty move in turning a short pass from Crompton into a 13-yard gain to the 1-yard line.

The defense twice stopped Creer on plunges from the 1-yard line before Crompton sneaked over on third and goal.

Mid-term freshman enrollee Tauren Poole showed a terrific burst of speed on a 21-yard run, then showed some power one play later a seven-yard weave up the gut.

Linebacker Adam Myers-White and safety DeAngelo Willingham combined to drop Poole for a two-yard loss.

Tackle Demonte Bolden tipped a B. J. Coleman pass.

Senior end Robert Ayers sacked Coleman for a seven-yard loss.

Tackle Dan Williams stormed through the line to bat down a Coleman pass.

Cunningham hit punts of 49 and 56 yards with the wind behind him, plus kicks of 31 and 36 yards into the wind.

Walk-on linebacker Brett Barnes intercepted a pass by walk-on quarterback Barry Cunningham.

Arian Foster bounced outside for a nine-yard gain but was collared for no gain on the next snap by sophomore defensive end Ben Martin.

Martin and tackle Victor Thomas combined for a two-yard sack of Stephens.

Furlow sniffed out a quick hitch to Denarius Moore and threw him for a four-yard loss.

Safety Demetrius Morley made a nice pass breakup on a ball intented for Ahmad Paige.

Ayers batted down a Coleman pass.

Linebacker Rico McCoy made a terrific break on a quick slant thrown by Coleman and returned the interception 53 yards to the 2-yard line.

Tackle Dan Williams threw Jakouri Williams for a one-yard loss.

Ramone Johnson was called for a false start.

A quick whistle probably cost Rogan a 70-yard punt return TD.

Lennon Creer showed great acceleration on a 37-yard burst around right end.

Crompton sneaked over from a yard away for his second TD of the afternoon.

End Wes Brown sacked Stephens for a seven-yard loss.

Ayers dropped Poole for a two-yard loss.

Walk-on fullback Reece Lovell bounced off a pileup and rambled 30 yards for a touchdown against a cast of scout-team defenders.

Dan Williams sacked Crompton for a three-yard loss. Williams then combined with McCoy and Morley to force Crompton to run for his life before throwing the ball away.

Daniel Lincoln hit 38-yard field goals from the right hash and straight on, missed a 39-yarder from the left hash, then made the kick on the second try.

Stephens threaded the needle on a 19-yard TD strike to Gerald Jones in a Red Zone drill.

Stephens found Quintin Hancock on a six-yard slant for a touchdown.

Gerald Jones, getting a terrific block from Kevin Cooper, gained eight yards on a flanker reverse.

Savion Frazier stormed through to deck Creer for a four-yard loss on a third-and-goal play at the 1-yard line.

Furlow made a nice hit to break up a Coleman pass intended for Ahmad Paige.

Redshirt freshman defensive tackle Donald Langley threw Poole for a three-yard loss.

Poole looked shifty in weaving through the middle of the line for a seven-yard gain.

With 1:10 on the clock, Crompton completed consecutive passes to Gerald Jones (11 yards), Stocker (7 yards) and Denarius Moore (15 yards) before Lincoln nailed a 42-yard field goal.

In the same late-game situation, Coleman found Ahmad Paige for a 14-yard gain but walk-on Devin Mathis missed a 43-yard field goal.

In his shot with 1:10 on the clock, Stephens found Poole for 9 yards and Hancock for six right before Mathis hit a 39-yard field goal.

Ayers nearly intercepted a quick hitch by Coleman.

Kevin Cooper gathered in a short pass from Crompton and barreled his way 17 yards downfield.

Creer shook a couple of defenders on a four-yard touchdown run.
