Six Vols make '09 draft list

Projecting an NFL Draft a week beforehand is risky. Projecting one 51 weeks beforehand is proof that the dead time between spring football and preseason drills is upon us.

Rankings compiled by Pete Fiutak and posted at suggest that six University of Tennessee players – three of them juniors – could make an impact on the 2009 draft.

Fiutak tabs senior running back Arian Foster No. 82 among the pro prospects, which would project him to be a third-round draft pick. Junior linebacker Rico McCoy checks in at No. 115, which would project him as a fourth-round selection. Junior center Josh McNeil is No. 135, making him a fifth-rounder. Junior offensive tackle Chris Scott checks in at No. 147, making him a fifth-rounder, as well. Senior guard Anthony Parker is rated No. 164, which equates to a sixth-round grade, and senior guard Ramon Foster comes in at No. 214, which would make him a seventh-rounder.

Fiutak makes clear that he is not attempting to predict the '09 draft. He concedes that he did not include players below the Div. 1-A level and that some of the underclassmen listed will choose to remain in school rather than declare for the draft. In other words, his list is for entertainment purposes only.

Fiutak's preliminary list of the top 10 prospects for the 2009 draft reads as follows:
