Tennessee Head Coach Phillip Fulmer had high praise for his revamped offensive line following Wednesday's practice. The Volunteers will return to the lineup they opened the season with as guards Anthony Herrera and Jason Respert return to the starting lineup. Add a semi-healthy Michael Munoz to that mix and Fulmer likes what he sees.
"It was a good crisp practice for our offense with the crowd noise," Fulmer said.
Starting quarterback Casey Clausen
did not practice again today, however Fulmer reiterated that he expects him to be back for Saturday's game.
"Casey is making some progress so we expect him to be out here some tomorrow," Fulmer said.
If Clausen cannot go, expect freshman James Banks to make his first career start. "Our young quarterbacks took another step today," Fulmer said.
Defensively, the Vols spent Wednesday working on defending drop back passes, screens and draws. Mondre Dickerson missed practice with a class conflict. Willie Miles appears to be back to full-speed after suffering a concussion against Miami. Jason Mitchell is set to make his first career start at weakside linebacker which means Keyon Whiteside will be back in the middle.
On special teams Leonard Scott and Jonathan Wade got some extra work returning punts. Fulmer says that Mark Jones and Rashad Baker are still his top return men.
