Thursday Afternoon Practice Report

The Tennesse Vols finished up today as they prepared for a very physical and conference winless Mississippi State team.

"Well we are looking forward to this weekend," Coach Fulmer said after practice. "We have had a good week, especially today. Today was a good practice. A lot of energy is being put into what we are getting done." Fulmer did have a very accurate summary of the day and the week. Due to the absence of Casey Clausen, James Banks and C.J. Leak have been splitting all first team drills. With two first year quarterbacks, there has been the occasional miscommunication on offense.

Despite Clausen not taking any reps this week, Fulmer said his playing status would be a gametime decision. Clausen did attend practice, but was only wearing his jersey and a boot on his right foot. Fulmer said there is a chance that when the offense comes onto the field Saturday, Casey is the quarterback leading them out.

William Revill will not be able to play Saturday. He continues to struggle with ankle problems in his left leg. Fulmer said that there would be no chance of him playing.

Michael Munoz looked very sharp today. He participated in all the drills and he will start at left tackle on Saturday.

Chavis Smith's mother suffered a heart attack on Wednesday evening. Miss Smith is said to be fine and recooperating. Coach Fulmer called Chavis to his office this morning and then Smith went home. Fulmer said Chavis will play this weekend. Keep Chavis and his family in your prayers over the next few days.

The Vols will have a dress rehearsal in Starkville tomorrow afternoon. Kickoff is set for 11:30 CST and the game will be broadcast on Jefferson Pilot.
