Good news on Brittany Jackson

Don't count out Brittany Jackson just yet.

The knee injury Jackson suffered in the final minute of the Lady Vol basketball team's 75-40 rout of Saint Louis Sunday night in the San Juan Shootout is not as serious as initially feared. A thorough examination by UT orthopedist Dr. Bill Youmans on Monday revealed a tear of the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in her left knee.

The preliminary diagnosis was that Jackson might have sustained tears in both her MCL and her ACL (anterior cruciate ligament).

Jackson is scheduled to undergo more testing today but there appears to be a good chance that she will be able to return to action this season.

Jackson, a 6-foot sophomore from Cleveland, started five of UT's first six games and leads the team in 3-point baskets with 12. She is averaging 8.7 points per game.
