Ofenheusle, Witten earn A-A honors

Even with a lack-luster season, Tennessee still had a couple players that received All-American honors for their efforts in the 2002 season.

Senior captain Will Ofenheusle became the second Vol football player to earn All-America recognition this year, being named Monday to the Associated Press third team A-A squad. Junior tight end Jason Witten earned fourth-team honors from The Sporting News a few days earlier

Ofenheusle earlier made first-team All-SEC by AP and second-team by the leagues coaches. He is one of three team captains for the Vols and has the most experience on the offensive side of the ball, having played in every game of his collegiate career. Born in Martin, the native Tennessean will be playing in his 50th game as a Vol when UT meets Maryland in the Peach Bowl on New Year's Eve.
