Wednesday Afternoon Practice Report

After two days of hard practice, the end of today's session was welcome by all. The team is having to balance preparing for Maryland and their anticipation for spending Christmas with their families. As a whole, the team has done a wonderful job staying focused.

"This was a really encouraging afternoon practice," Coach Phillip Fulmer said this afternoon. "Our intensity was good on both sides particularly the offensive side of the ball. After struggling this morning, they came out and had a really good practice." Fulmer has been really pushing his offense to get better all the way around.

This afternoon's session was probably the best the wide receivers have had in the last few weeks. You would have had to look hard to see a dropped pass. Fulmer said he was very pleased with his wide outs today and hopes they bring the same tempo to Atlanta next week.

Chuck Prugh has been getting all the first team work at center with Scott Wells resting and healing up an assortment of injuries he has. Prugh has done a good job, but Wells is not expected to miss the Peach Bowl.

The Vols have an afternoon practice tomorrow and a mid-morning practice on Friday. After Friday's final session, the team will leave to go home for Christmas.
