Projecting the SEC Tournament

In four-plus decades of watching SEC basketball, I don't believe I've ever seen the league as uniformly mediocre as it is this season. That's why I'd be a fool to try and predict what will happen in the 2009 SEC Tournament.

OK ... so, I'm a fool.

To determine how much of a fool I am, I'll probably review the projections below Sunday evening ... just to see how well/poorly I did.

That said, here are the picks:

- Kentucky over Ole Miss: There will be a lot more Big Blue fans in the stands.

- Mississippi State over Georgia: The Dawgs are just bad.

- Alabama over Vanderbilt: The Tide's showing a pulse under interim coach Philip Pearson.

- Florida over Arkansas: The Hogs are just bad.

- Kentucky over LSU: The Tigers are an NCAA lock; the Cats are fighting their way off the bubble.

- South Carolina over Mississippi State: The Cocks clinch an NCAA Tournament bid.

- Tennessee over Alabama: The Vols avenge Sunday's home-court loss.

- Florida over Auburn: The Gators should feel at home in Tampa.

- Kentucky over South Carolina: The Cocks can't beat the Cats three times in one season.

- Florida over Tennessee: The Vols can't beat the Gators three times in one season.

- Kentucky over Florida: The Big Blue has one chance to get invited to The Dance, and this is it.
