Prince has shoulder surgery

Tennessee associate athletic trainer Chad Newman reported that rising senior basketball player J.P. Prince underwent arthroscopic reconstructive surgery to his right shoulder Thursday morning at UT?Medical Center.

Prince will be held out of contact drills for 3-4 months.

The Memphis native struggled with some pain in the shoulder during the 2008-09 season but was able to compete until a repair could be performed at the conclusion of the season.

Despite the injury, Prince led the Volunteers in field-goal percentage (.572)?and steals (47) while finding his niche as a playmaker and ranking third on the team with 97 total assists. He also averaged 9.9 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while seeing action in 31 contests with 23 starts.
